Past Teams and Programs

2008-2009 This was the first season of the Ice Caps and they skated to a calypso themed program and skated in the Pre-Novice category. Featuring music of Harry Belefonte, the team of only 6 skaters began to learn the basics of synchro skating.  They entered only one competition that season, the Ontario Regional Championships, and finished an impressive 4th place out of 13 teams. They scored the highest technical score of all their competitors, and were the top finisher of all the teams from Eastern Ontario.  What a debut!

2009-2010 This team, comprised of 12 skaters, skated to Cat Stevens' Peace Train and continued to hone the synchro basics. This second season of the Ice Caps included a strategic move into the Novice category. Knowing they would be hard-pressed to keep up with the larger, stronger teams who had far more practice time, they entered the Novice category hoping to earn a berth to the Ontario Winter Games. The OWG is hosted every other year, and during the 2009-2010 season, was only open to Novice synchro teams. The strategy paid off, and despite finishing predictably lower in the standings, the team managed to earn a spot to the Ontario Winter Games were they had a spectacular once in a lifetime experience.
